visitation
Grandparents play such an important role in a child’s life. It is advisable for child to spend as much time as possible with the grandparents. Grandparents visitation becomes a concern when the parents of the child seek a divorce. It is rather unfortunate that parents have to separate because of their differences but it should by no means affect the child.
There is no way of shielding a child from what will happen and the child would have to go through the trauma of understanding why the parents got separated. In this situation grandparents visitation can be the only thing that can keep the kid happy. Visiting grandparents from time to time or spending a weekend getting pampered by the granddad and grand mom can be a great way of helping the kid from getting over the trauma.
When parents get separated or divorced, both share the custody of the child and hence both the maternal and paternal grandparents visitation is granted. However, in certain cases where either of the parents suffers from any mental illness, then it is the court that will determine if that side of grandparents will or will not get grandparents visitation.
On the other hand if only the
mother gets custody of the child then she has the right to decide and say
whether the other side would get grandparents visitation rights or not. On the
whole it either depends on the court or the parents to decide if grandparents
visitation can be granted or not.
